CERV-2024-CITIZENS-TOWN-NT: Green Move – transforming rural mobility for a sustainable future
GreenMove is an innovative initiative designed to tackle the urgent environmental issues related to rural mobility and transportation. This project aspires to promote sustainable mobility in functional rural areas by harnessing cutting-edge technologies, collaborative strategies, and participatory approaches. Recognizing the effectiveness of traffic management policies, such as Low Emission Zones. GreenMove aims to alleviate road congestion and mitigate environmental pollution through the transformation of rural communities. GreenMove's emphasis on facilitating exchanges between citizens of different Member States serves as a powerful catalyst for raising awareness of common European values and promoting democratic dialogue. By transcending geographical boundaries, the project nurtures a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility, reinforcing the foundational principles of the European Union.
The GreenMove partnership is composed of 17 organizations from 16 different countries: Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malta, Slovakia, Czechia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, and Slovenia. Over the course of the project, GreenMove will host six significant transnational meetings, which will include both conferences and workshops, each lasting four days. These gatherings aim to foster collaboration and share best practices among partner organizations, enhancing the impact of the initiative across the participating countries.
OBJECTIVES:
GreenMove aims not only to transform rural mobility but also to instigate a fundamental shift toward sustainability and social inclusion. By creating a network of cities across EU Member States, including overseas countries and territories (OCTs), the project fosters a collaborative movement dedicated to sustainable mobility policies. GreenMove develops tailored action plans for each participating rural area, empowering local communities to actively engage in democratic processes. This approach nurtures a sense of ownership and encourages residents to participate meaningfully in shaping their own sustainable futures.
ACTIVITIES:
Project meetings, establishing communication channels, Workshops, Seminars, Round table discussions, Guidelines for Good practices, promotion of Democratic Dialogue, Capacity building, Citizen participation, and community engagement tactics, Promote and protect European Union values, facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration focusing on the adoption of sustainable transportation practices in mountainous regions, such as the use of electric vehicles, public transport, and non-motorized modes, to reduce environmental impact and improve air quality.

18 months starting from 1st of December 2024
